Seven individuals are currently in police custody following the tragic killing of Eric Johnson, the owner of a prominent safari resort and hotel in Jirapa, Upper West Region, known colloquially as “Jirapa Dubai.” The police had initially announced the arrest of five suspects on Sunday, but further developments led to the apprehension of two more individuals on Sunday night, bringing the total to seven as of Monday night.
The newly apprehended suspects, identified as Charles Tuoze and Favour Nuobe, are both employees of the Royal Cosy Hill Hotel, owned by the late Eric Johnson. The other five suspects, Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Beyuo Felix, and Michael Klugey, are also workers at the hotel. They are all currently assisting police investigations into the matter, along with suspect Kumbata Kwaku, who was arrested earlier on Sunday.
Eric Johnson was discovered deceased in his private apartment at the hotel and safari park premises on Sunday, February 11, prompting an immediate investigation by authorities. While the police have not yet determined a motive for the crime, discussions among residents of Jirapa have suggested a potential connection to a chieftaincy dispute in the area.
Police investigations are ongoing as authorities work diligently to identify and bring the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for Eric Johnson’s death to justice. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for swift and thorough action to address the circumstances surrounding the killing of a well-respected member of the community and business owner.
