Ghanaians have expressed disappointment in the captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, for missing a critical penalty that led to Ghana finishing third on the group H table.

Ghana were awarded a penalty when Uruguay’s defender fouled Kudus Mohammed in the 21st minute of the first half. It was all joy until Andre Ayew feebly kicked the ball towards the opponent’s goalkeeper.

Many Ghanaians on social media have taken to Akuffo-Addo’s “sika mp3 Dede” comment to describe the penalty miss of Andre Ayew. Some have added that the era of the Ayews are over.

If Dede Ayew had scored that would have killed the confidence of Uruguay 🇺🇾, now looks a tall order for Ghana 🇬🇭 to come back

Asamoah Gyan should have been the one to play the penalty not Dede Ayew. He would have done everything to redeem his name

Dede Ayew should score to clean this mess else NPP people will say he’s the reason for the economic hardship in Ghana 🇬🇭 🤷 pic.twitter.com/GO1BOIik0A
