K.A. Technologies Announce Mop-Up in Six Regions for 1 Teacher 1 Laptop Distribution

The distribution of laptops under the government’s One Teacher-One Laptop initiative is progressing smoothly, with ten out of the 16 regions fully supplied. According to K.A. Technologies, the local manufacturers of the laptops, nearly 300,000 teachers across all educational levels, including senior high schools (SHS), junior high schools (JHS), primary, and kindergarten, have received their laptops.

The distribution effort, which began in September 2021, aims to enhance teaching and learning outcomes by equipping every public school teacher with a laptop. The government covers 70 percent of the laptop cost, while teachers contribute the remaining 30 percent through their unions. These laptops also provide access to digital training modules approved by the National Teaching Council, aligning teaching practices with national standards.

As of the latest update, less than one percent of the laptops remain to be distributed, with a nationwide mop-up exercise underway and expected to conclude by August 2024. The exercise is targeting the remaining six regions where some categories of beneficiaries, such as teachers on leave, have yet to receive their laptops.

Recent distribution activities have focused on the Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Western North, Eastern, Volta, and Oti regions, where more teachers have taken delivery of their TM1 Laptops. Distribution efforts in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions also saw an increase in recipients last month.

Teachers and non-teaching staff who have not yet received their laptops can generate a collection code by dialing 790555# and contacting their Regional and District ICT Coordinators for further assistance.
