WAEC Releases Provisional Results for WASSCE 2024: How to Check Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, Ghana Only Version.

Accessing the Results

Heads of schools will receive login credentials to access the results of their candidates. Additionally, individual candidates can check their results online at the WAEC website, www.waecgh.org. WAEC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the security of the results, cautioning stakeholders to beware of fraudsters who claim to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates and institutions can verify results using WAEC’s Results Verification System and QR code.

Performance Overview

A total of 460,611 candidates, comprising 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools, registered for the examination. This represents a 2.66% increase over the 2023 entry figure of 448,674. However, 4,609 candidates (1.0%) were absent from the examination.

The performance of candidates in the four core subjects is summarized below:

English Language 69.52% 8.65% 5.53% 5.88%

Mathematics (Core) 66.86% 5.40% 4.69% 6.10%

Integrated Science 58.77% 8.69% 6.47% 7.12%

Social Studies 71.53% 9.03% 6.44% 9.55%

The performance over the past four years indicates improvements in Mathematics, while English Language, Integrated Science, and Social Studies have experienced fluctuating trends.

Examination Irregularities

Following investigations into irregularities, WAEC has taken the following actions:

1. Subject Results Cancellation: 4,108 candidates had their results canceled for bringing unauthorized materials into examination halls.

2. Entire Results Cancellation: 483 candidates had their results canceled for possession of mobile phones in examination halls.

3. Results Withheld: Subject results for 781 candidates and entire results for 209 candidates are withheld for further investigation. Additionally, results from 319 schools suspected of collusion are under review.

Decisions on withheld results will depend on the outcome of ongoing investigations.
