Cabinet Approves Recruitment of 6,100 Teachers – Education Minister Confirms

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that Cabinet has granted approval for the recruitment of 6,100 new teachers into the Ghana Education Service (GES).

According to the Minister, the new intake will comprise only graduates from the 2023 cohort, ensuring that eligible trained teachers from that year group are fully absorbed into the system. He explained that the move forms part of government’s efforts to address teacher shortages in schools and strengthen quality education delivery across the country.

The recruitment, he noted, is expected to ease pressure on understaffed schools, improve teacher-to-student ratios, and help sustain gains made in educational access and learning outcomes.
