Three Students Arrested Over Assault on Obrachire SHS Student in Viral Video

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested three students in connection with the assault of an Obrachire Senior High School student captured in a widely circulated viral video.

The suspects, all students of Swedru School of Business, were handed over to the police by the school’s authorities on February 23, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m., following an engagement between the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, and the school’s management earlier the same day.

The arrested students have been identified as Joseph Amoh, 20; Benedict Appiah, 18; and Bilal Mamud, 18.

Authorities direct all third-year male students of Bolgatanga Technical Institute to leave the school over fears of attack on teachers and school properties

They were taken to the Swedru Divisional Police Command and are expected to be put before court to face charges related to the assault.

The Central Regional Police Command strongly condemned the conduct of the students involved and cautioned the public, especially students, against engaging in acts of violence.

Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie of the Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Police Command reiterated the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that persons involved in violent acts are brought to justice.
