The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two security men of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School over an alleged sexual assault involving a special needs student.
According to the Head of Public Relations at GES, Daniel Fenyi, the student is reportedly on medication and suffered a relapse on the day of the alleged incident, requiring medical attention.
The two watchmen were arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigations. They have also been interdicted with immediate effect.
GES said thorough investigations are ongoing and appropriate sanctions will be applied based on the outcome of the investigations, in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
The Service has cautioned all staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of students.
GES further assured parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves and stressed that it will not tolerate any conduct that compromises the safety and wellbeing of students.
