The suspended headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, is reportedly the constituency secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Juaben and is seeking to become the constituency chairman.
Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni revealed this on Joy FM on Thursday, October 15, while discussing his latest documentary, Inside the Dreaded Headmaster’s Bungalow.
According to Manasseh, he discovered the headmaster’s political position during his investigations in the community. He said Mr Abdulai is expected to contest for the constituency chairmanship at the party’s delegates’ conference before the end of the year.
The journalist also expressed concern that the allegations against the headmaster were widely known in the community, including among some NDC members, but few people were willing to speak publicly about them.

Manasseh further alleged that some officials at the school and within the Ghana Education Service (GES) at the district and regional levels knew about the reports but failed to take adequate action.
He suggested that the headmaster might be receiving protection from influential individuals.
The documentary examines allegations of sexual abuse involving female students at the school. The allegations are yet to be established through investigations.
Many teachers have been reportedly given open release as the situation intensifies and investigations are underway.
On October 13, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu directed the GES to suspend Mr Abdulai pending a full investigation into the allegations.
The Minister also called for an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
