Student St@bbed to Dɛath at O’Reilly SHS Over Wealth Argument

Accra, September 3, 2024 — Tragedy struck at O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra when an 18-year-old student was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student following a heated argument about whose father is wealthier.

The incident, which has since been captured in a disturbing video circulating online, shows the victim, whose identity has not been released, being carried by other students through the school yard and down the roadside in an attempt to get him to a hospital. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive.

The video depicts a chaotic scene as students struggled to transport their injured peer while waiting for a vehicle. The argument, which started as a dispute over familial wealth, escalated dramatically, resulting in the tragic outcome. 

We don’t feel safe at all,’ – a traumatized final year student of O’Reilly Senior High School said. The student added that ‘town folks’ trying to get into the school to perpetuate violence had also manhandled and injured another student.

Authorities are investigating the incident, and the school community is in shock as they come to terms with the senseless violence that unfolded.
