The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting passionate and dedicated graduates to apply for teaching positions within the Service. The opportunity is open to individuals who hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or related qualifications in education, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s education sector.
According to GES, successful applicants will be responsible for facilitating teaching and learning using 21st-century technology while addressing the diverse needs of learners. Teachers are expected to support students in achieving excellent academic outcomes, enhance their research abilities through the use of modern tools, and apply a variety of assessment methods to accurately evaluate learner competencies. In addition, applicants must adhere strictly to the National Teaching Standards and Code of Conduct to maintain professionalism and ethical behavior in the classroom.
The Service also emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, urging prospective teachers to actively participate in training sessions to remain updated with modern teaching practices. Strong communication and classroom management skills are considered essential for all applicants.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant degree with a Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Education (PGDE/PGCE), or a Diploma in Basic Education. Applicants are also required to have completed their National Service and must be in good standing with the National Teaching Council, with a valid teaching license. Additionally, candidates must be willing to accept postings to deprived districts across the country.
Interested applicants are required to apply through the official GES recruitment portal by completing an online application form and uploading all necessary documents. These include academic certificates, National Service certificate, teaching license, Ghana Card, a passport-sized photograph, as well as an active email address and phone number. Applications are open from April 10 to April 17, 2026.
