In an audio available to sixscribes.com, the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr Alex Opoku-Mensah, has described General Arts students unintelligent.

The director said this on November 29, in a heated argument with a nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital. He furiously stated in the audio that the nurse had rudely phoned his daughter who is a house officer and has commanded her (the daughter) to report back to hospital.

Mr. Opoku-Mensah further stated that the nurse was not showing professionalism, possibly because of her background as a General Arts student. To him, as a former tutor of science, science students are too intelligent and should be the focus for recruiting nursing students but not ‘uncouth’ General Arts students.

This and many other comments by the NSS Director in the 9-minutes-long audio have attracted teases and other sarcastic reactions from netizens. Read some below:

I feel sorry for the Manhyia Government Hospital’s house officer; she’s kinda gained attention for all the wrong reasons (by her dad). As for the nurses there, I’m sending them love and hugs. And to the General Arts students and teachers, have my sympathies.

Ah well. I proudly studied General Arts. Ended with Law and Economic Policy Management. This man is obviously suffering from ‘SUPERIORITY COMPLEX’. This was what he said about me in Jan 2022. Pride kills. 😅😅😅😅. pic.twitter.com/ZvbYyaSsyS
