Presidency Announces Six Major Changes at National Security Secretariat

The Presidency has announced changes at the National Security Secretariat, with six new appointments and reassignments taking effect immediately.

Major General (Rtd.) William Ayamdo has been appointed as the new Deputy National Security Coordinator.

Former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor has also been moved to a new role as Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alhassan Osman, who was the Director of Investigations at the National Security Secretariat, has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.

Other appointments include Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport, Faustina Effah-Boadi as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, and DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri as Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.

The changes were announced in a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by the President’s Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

According to the statement, the changes are aimed at improving the work of the National Security Secretariat, making its operations more efficient, and strengthening Ghana’s security system to deal with emerging threats.

The new appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.
