Tragic Collision Claims 20 Lives in Peki Car Crash

A fatal collision between a Grandbird bus and a Toyota mini-bus on the Eastern corridor road between Peki-Adzokoe and Tsibu has led to the loss of at least 20 lives.

The ill-fated Grandbird bus was on its journey from Accra to Chinderi in the Oti Region, while the Toyota mini-bus was en route from Hohoe to Accra, both carrying passengers hoping to reach their destinations safely.

The impact of the collision was nothing short of devastating, as it tore the Toyota mini-bus into two, leaving a scene of unimaginable destruction. The Grandbird bus, too, was unable to withstand the force, veering off the road before eventually toppling over.

The incident unfolded around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, claiming the lives of 15 passengers who were on board the mini-bus. Additionally, five passengers traveling on the Grandbird bus also lost their lives in the horrific collision.

In the face of such a calamity, emergency service personnel promptly sprang into action, providing vital assistance to the injured individuals. Their swift response, though unable to reverse the devastating loss of lives, was instrumental in offering support to those who survived this tragic incident.

The local community, along with authorities, is now grappling with the aftermath of this heartrending event. As investigations are underway to determine the cause of the collision, our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of those affected by this profound tragedy. This incident serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while traveling, as well as the need for continued efforts to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
