The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a cautionary notice, informing the public to brace for more frequent power outages during peak hours, particularly from 7 pm to 11 pm.

In a recent social media post, ECG revealed that 630 distribution transformers across its operational regions have been identified as operating at full capacity due to heightened power demand. This situation increases the likelihood of blown fuses and broken conductors, leading to outages, especially during the evening peak load period.

The post assured customers that efforts are underway to address the issue, including transformer upgrades and new projects aimed at alleviating strain on existing infrastructure. ECG emphasized the importance of promptly reporting localized outages or voltage fluctuations to their call center or through social media channels for swift resolution.

Affected customers are urged to contact the ECG Call Center at 0302-611611 or via WhatsApp, and to reach out on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Acknowledging the inconvenience faced by customers, ECG appealed for patience and support as they work towards enhancing Ghana’s power distribution system.

Earlier this month, ECG Managing Director Samuel Dubik Mahama addressed concerns over frequent power disruptions, attributing them to maintenance issues rather than fuel shortages. He highlighted the complexity of managing machinery-dependent operations, acknowledging that unforeseen malfunctions can impact service reliability.

As Ghana navigates these challenges, ECG remains committed to improving service delivery and ensuring a more stable power supply for all citizens.
