Freemasons from various parts of Ghana and beyond are gearing up to converge in Kumasi this weekend for a momentous celebration honoring Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on two significant occasions: his 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool and his 25th anniversary as a Freemason.

The event, slated to be held at the prestigious Sir Agyemang Prempeh II Masonic Hall, will not only commemorate the enduring reign of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II but also mark the 15th anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Ghana.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, has been a staunch supporter of Freemasonry throughout his tenure since ascending to the Golden Stool in 1999.

The festivities will kick off with a formal Masonic ceremony, followed by a continuation of celebrations at the Jubilee Hall in Manhyia, emphasizing the core values of unity and brotherhood among attendees.

The Grand Lodge of Ghana, established on January 24, 2009, as a “Sovereign Masonic Body,” oversees a multitude of subordinate lodges across the country. It is divided into four provincial Grand Lodges: South West (Cape Coast), South East (Accra), North (Kumasi), and East (Lome & Volta). The recognition of the Grand Lodge of Ghana by the United Grand Lodge of England was a significant milestone in its journey.

Over the years, the Grand Lodge has seen distinguished leadership, with notable figures such as Most Worshipful Brother Charles William Stanley-Pierre, Most Worshipful Brother Otwasuom Osae Nyampong VI, and Most Worshipful Brother N/Capt Kwadjo Adunkwa Butah serving as Grand Masters.

The mantle of leadership currently rests with Most Worshipful Brother Nana Osei Atwene Bonsu, who assumed office in May 2021. The Grand Lodge’s motto, “That All Shall Be One,” underscores its unwavering commitment to fostering unity among its members and beyond.
