In a further twist to the ongoing scandal involving the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), it has been revealed that four individuals posing as relatives sent to bring back the body of deceased coach George Gyamfi Gyasi have vanished upon arriving in Norway.

Samson Deen, President of the NPC, made this disclosure during an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show. The NPC has been under intense scrutiny following the disappearance of several para-athletes who had traveled to Norway for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon. The Ministry of National Security reported that the 11 athletes in question failed to register for the event.

Adding to the controversy, one team member was arrested while attempting to enter Sweden, and coach Gyasi died at a hospital after collapsing. Deen confirmed that the supposed relatives dispatched to return Gyasi’s body to Ghana have also fled.

According to Deen, the initial visa applications for the six or seven individuals were denied, but they later obtained forged documents to enter Norway. “They were supposed to transport the body but instead disappeared,” Deen stated. “These individuals have been identified.”

The NPC has reported the incident to the police, and investigations are currently underway. The committee continues to address the fallout from this complex and troubling situation.
