Kwaku Osei Koranteng Asiedu, widely known as KOKA, is once again stirring the pot with his latest claims. The prominent entertainment critic and event organizer has asserted that his recent criticism of Ghanaian artist King Paluta’s song “Makoma” was crucial in the track’s rising success.

During a recent appearance on Asempa FM’s ‘Asempa Showbiz Review,’ KOKA stated that his controversial remarks about the song had ignited considerable interest and boosted its popularity. Despite facing criticism for initially disparaging King Paluta’s vocal abilities, KOKA contends that his comments were instrumental in increasing the song’s visibility and engagement.

KOKA did offer an apology for his earlier harsh critique, but he remains convinced that his influence significantly contributed to the track’s success. “I’m not saying radio stations shouldn’t play his songs. In fact, someone called me to thank me because I’m the reason they listened to the song,” KOKA said. “Before my comments, it had around 800 hits, but now it’s over a million. Just check his streams on digital platforms; they’ve doubled.”

According to KOKA, his comments triggered a surge in the song’s streams and views, propelling it to over a million listens across various digital platforms. He proudly proclaimed, “I was the catalyst for this. My remarks drew attention to the song. If people dislike me and that leads them to play the song more, then so be it. If my criticism helps King Paluta grow and succeed, then I welcome it.”

In a video shared on social media, KOKA admitted that his choice of words was regrettable but maintained that his goal was to promote the long-term success of Ghanaian artists like King Paluta. Despite the initial backlash, KOKA stands by his assertion that his critique played a significant role in the success of “Makoma.”
