Goaso Traditional Council Bans Valentine’s Day Celebrations in Goaso

The Goaso Traditional Council has officially banned the public celebration of Valentine’s Day in the town following the passing of the chief of Goaso.

In a video released by Cash Media, Nananom cautioned residents against hosting or attending Valentine’s Day events in hotels, pubs, and other public spaces. However, they noted that individuals who wish to observe the occasion privately in their homes may do so.

The directive is part of a broader effort to maintain a solemn atmosphere as the town mourns the late chief. The council has urged all residents to respect the mourning period by refraining from any form of public celebration or entertainment.

Organizers of planned Valentine’s Day events have been advised to cancel their programs and issue refunds to participants who have already made payments.

Goaso, the capital of the Asunafo North Municipality in the Ahafo Region of Ghana, is a town governed by a traditional council, with Nana Akwasi Bosompra I serving as the Omanhene. According to the 2010 census, the town has a population of 21,146.

Local authorities are expected to enforce the directive, ensuring that businesses and individuals comply with the restrictions during the mourning period.
