TWO ARRESTED FOR POSING AS GHANA GOLD BOARD TASKFORCE MEMBERS

Tarkwa, Ghana – July 16, 2025 — The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly extorting money from gold dealers while impersonating members of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce.

The suspects, identified as Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38, were apprehended after the Police received multiple reports indicating that the duo had been visiting gold buying shops, falsely presenting themselves as taskforce officials from the Ghana Gold Board.

According to police investigations, the two men—who claim to be ex-military officers—engaged in a series of unauthorized operations, targeting licensed gold dealers under the guise of conducting official inspections.

The Western Central Regional Police Command is urging the general public—especially those within the mining and precious minerals sector—to be vigilant and demand proper identification from anyone claiming to represent a government agency.

“We caution the public to verify the credentials of individuals presenting themselves as government officials, particularly in sensitive sectors like gold trading,” the Command said in a public statement.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether other accomplices or victims may be involved.
