Accra, July 14, 2026 – The Ministry of Education has called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to locate, arrest, and prosecute the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher who remains on the run weeks after a nationwide manhunt was announced.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry expressed concern that the suspect has still not been arrested despite the seriousness of the allegations against him and the public interest surrounding the case.

The Ministry noted reports that the fugitive teacher recently granted a media interview in which he claimed his actions were unintentional and reportedly requested a transfer to a village school. According to the Ministry, these developments should provide investigators with useful leads to trace and apprehend him.

It further urged the Police to strengthen their investigations by employing digital tracking methods and engaging the media outlet that published the teacher’s comments, describing such steps as potentially helpful in locating the suspect.

The Ministry also stated that information available to it suggests the teacher’s alleged misconduct was deliberate rather than accidental, contrary to his claims. It added that it had seen other videos allegedly showing the same teacher engaging in similar inappropriate behaviour with other girls believed to be students.

According to the statement, the Ministry believes the interdicted teacher abused his position of trust to exploit vulnerable female students, describing the allegations as deeply troubling.

The statement reiterated Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu’s earlier condemnation of the incident, describing it as “unacceptable, shameful, and inconsistent with the values and standards expected of members of the teaching profession.”

The Ministry expressed confidence in the Ghana Police Service’s ability to apprehend the suspect and appealed to members of the public with information about his whereabouts to report it to the Police or the Ministry of Education.

Beyond the Bole SHS case, the Ministry raised concerns over what it described as increasing cases of indiscipline involving teachers, school heads, and students across educational institutions. It warned that such incidents undermine teaching and learning, erode public confidence in schools, and threaten efforts to maintain safe and disciplined learning environments.

The Ministry disclosed that the Education Minister has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to take firm and decisive action against all forms of misconduct in pre-tertiary institutions, stressing that anyone found guilty of violating professional or student conduct standards will face sanctions under existing laws and regulations.

It also announced plans to convene a National Dialogue on tackling growing indiscipline in schools, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss practical and sustainable measures to address the challenge across Ghana’s educational institutions.
