The Akwatia Police Command has reportedly arrested a man identified as Coffie Agyemang, a resident of Kwamang, for allegedly attempting to sell his 3-year-old son for money.
According to reports from Akwatia TV, Coffie Agyemang had earlier discussed with a friend that he wanted to sell his young son because he was facing serious financial difficulties.
Sources say the police received a tip-off about the plan and decided to act swiftly. Officers allegedly posed as buyers and engaged Coffie in discussions about the sale of the child.
After negotiations, an amount of GHS1 million was reportedly agreed upon. Coffie is said to have brought his son to the agreed meeting point, where he was immediately arrested by the police.
Further information from sources indicates that Coffie allegedly intended for the child to be killed, with some body parts taken for ritual purposes, after which the body would be returned to him to make it appear the child had been killed.
Police investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
