The Ghana Education Service (GES), in partnership with Access Bank, marked the annual ‘My First Day at School’ event on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Kroma Cluster of Schools in Nungua. The celebration is held to welcome children who are enrolling in kindergarten for the first time and those transitioning into the mainstream school system at Basic One.
As part of the festivities, the second phase of the “Sandal More for A Better Tomorrow” project was launched. This initiative, backed by Access Bank, aims to provide over 20,000 students nationwide with comfortable sandals to improve their school experience.
Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of the GES, Apostle Dr. Christian Koramoah, the Financial Controller of GES, commended Access Bank for their continuous support in enhancing access to quality education. He praised the “Sandal More for A Better Tomorrow” project as a vital initiative to help ensure learners, especially those in underprivileged areas, attend school comfortably and with dignity.
Dr. Koramoah also donated school supplies to the new learners and extended warm greetings to teachers, first-time students, and returning pupils, urging them to make the most of the opportunities presented in the new academic year.
This partnership between GES and Access Bank highlights a shared commitment to improving educational access and creating a supportive environment for students across Ghana.
