South African woman Gwegwe Ogoso shared her profound shock and dismay after her 19-year-old daughter gave birth, making her a grandmother at the tender age of 36.
Ogoso took to social media X to express her emotions, revealing that her daughter had concealed the pregnancy until her water broke, leaving her blindsided. In a tweet, she lamented, “My 19-year-old daughter made me a granny at the age of 36 😭😭 I’m still shook and traumatized. She hid the pregnancy for 9 months up until her water broke. After God, fear ama 2000.”
Despite her shock, Ogoso clarified that her reaction stems from her desire for her daughter to succeed in life. She emphasized that while she is not ashamed of becoming a mother at the age of 18, she had hoped her daughter would have more opportunities before starting a family of her own.
Responding to comments on her post, Ogoso elaborated, stating, “I’m not ashamed or embarrassed that I had my daughter at the age of 18, yes it was not planned but she has been the biggest blessing to me. I’m mad that she got pregnant, yes any parent would be. Because I still wanted her to achieve more.”
The revelation has sparked conversations online about the challenges faced by young mothers and the importance of education and support systems for young women.
