The technical handlers of the Senior National Team of Ghana have the sole responsibility to select the best eleven players to put up a matching performance against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
The Black Stars will face Portugal in their 2022 FIFA World Cup opening match at Stadium 974 (Rass Abou Aboud). On paper, Portugal are the favorites but truly, papers sometimes fail to do better calculations in the game of football.
In the absence of Jojo Wollacott, goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi stands as the first choice to possibly start against Portugal. Many Ghanaians have chastised Jordan Ayew for his lack of goals for both club and country but it is highly possible coach Otto Addo will start him ahead of other attackers because of his work rate to support his team mates.
Probably, Denis Odoi/ Tariq Lamptey, Amartey, Salisu, Baba Rahaman will man the defence line for Ghana. Thomas Partey, Salis and Kudus Mohammed will engineer the midfield while Inaki Williams leads the attack with the Ayew brothers at the flanks in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Ghana’s probable line up to face Portugal:
Lawrence Ati-Zigi; Denis Odoi/Tariq Lamptey, Daniel Amartey, Mohammed Salisu, Baba Rahman; Thomas Partey, Salis Samed; Kudus Mohammed, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew/Kamaldeen; Inaki Williams.
