BECE Graduates to Enter SHS by September 27, 2024 – GES

Ghana Education Service Announces Reopening Date for First-Year SHS Students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially declared that first-year senior high school (SHS) students will commence the 2024/2025 academic year on Friday, September 27, 2024. This announcement comes following the completion of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by Junior High School graduates.

In a communication dated July 15, 2024, addressed to all regional directors of education, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, acting director for the Schools and Instructions Division, conveyed the directive on behalf of the Director General of GES. The letter emphasized the need for parents and school heads to prepare adequately for the reopening.

According to the GES directive, the vacation date for the first-year students has been scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2024. The statement reiterated that all other planned activities and programs for the semester remain unchanged.

“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all heads of Senior High / Senior High Technical Schools that the re-opening date for 1st year students of the 2024/2025 academic year is as follows:

– Reopening Date: Friday, September 27, 2024

– Vacation Date: Friday, December 6, 2024

The GES encourages strict adherence to these dates and maintains that all academic and extracurricular schedules will proceed as planned for the upcoming semester.”

The announcement underscores the GES’s commitment to providing timely and structured educational opportunities for students across the country. Parents, guardians, and educational stakeholders are urged to take note of these dates and make necessary preparations to ensure a smooth start to the academic year for the incoming SHS students.
