Twelve pupils from the Royal Academy International School in the Twifo Atti Mokwa District of the Central Region have been involved in a tragic accident after their school bus veered off the road and somersaulted into a ditch.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday July 9th, left nine of the students in critical condition, while the remaining sustained varying degrees of injury. According to eyewitnesses, the bus overturned and land in a ditch.
Emergency responders and Good Samaritans quickly rushed to the scene to assist in rescuing the trapped children. The injured were transported to the Hospital, where doctors are working tirelessly to stabilize those in critical condition.
School authorities are yet to release official communique on the incident. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially determined, but preliminary reports suggest possible brake failure or overspeeding.
Local authorities, including officials from the m Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), have launched investigations into the matter.
Parents and residents of the community have been left in shock, calling for stricter enforcement of school transportation safety regulations.
