Confirmed: Lampard Returns To Chelsea Until End Of Season. Read Details.
Chelsea Football Club has recruited Frank Lampard to manage their senior men’s soccer team until the end of the season. In such role, the former midfielder of the club will operate as Caretaker-Manager with a slim chance of extending his contract by the end of 2022/2023 EPL footballing season.
Chelsea FC will pay Frank Lampard around €2M to be the caretaker manager for less than 2 months, until 30th June 2023.
During Lampard’s first appointment with Chelsea, he managed the London club for 84 games, including guiding it to an FA Cup final. He finished fourth at the EPL table before he was sacked the following season.
“We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club. As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season”, Co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said.
Chelsea hasstruggled to stand on its feet for the past seven months under the management of Graham Potter. Potter has had so many support and chances from club owners to prove himself worthy at the club but to no avail.
The club decided to terminate their contract with Potter after Chelsea lost 2:0 against Aston Villa on April 1, 2023.
