Renowned relationship expert, Counselor Edem Adofoli, has advocated for Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale to incorporate a mental health professional into his management team to assist in managing his emotions, amidst concerns over the artist’s public outbursts.
In a recent interview, Counselor Adofoli expressed apprehension regarding Shatta Wale’s inability to control his emotions in various situations, highlighting the need for professional assistance to address this issue effectively.
“Some people…don’t know how to handle their emotions in stressful situations, and so they lash out publicly. Those close to him and on his team likely avoid saying things that might upset him… That’s why having a counselor, therapist, or psychologist on his team would be beneficial,” Counselor Adofoli explained.
The call for psychological support comes in the wake of a recent incident where Shatta Wale faced backlash for mocking fellow musician Stonebwoy’s disability during a performance at Sallahfest. Shatta Wale’s disparaging remarks and insults directed at Stonebwoy in the viral video prompted condemnation from the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD).
The GSPD issued a statement condemning Shatta Wale’s derogatory comments, emphasizing the negative impact such statements have on individuals with disabilities. The society criticized Shatta Wale for perpetuating stereotypes and urged him to refrain from making insensitive remarks.
“In the video, Shatta Wale said among other negative statements ‘You are a bad person that is why God made you a disabled person, you are a disabled person don’t try and fight an able person.’ By this statement, he is trying to say all persons with disabilities are bad that is why God has made us who we are. This primitive statement should not have come from a high-profile personality like Shatta Wale,” the statement from GSPD read.
As Shatta Wale faces scrutiny over his conduct, Counselor Adofoli’s recommendation highlights the importance of prioritizing mental health and emotional well-being in the entertainment industry. It remains to be seen whether Shatta Wale will heed the advice and take steps to incorporate psychological support into his management team.
