Rex Omar Urges African Youth To Embrace Ancestral Wisdom And Be Wise with Wedding Expenses

Renowned Ghanaian Highlife musician, Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, has issued a heartfelt plea to the youth of Africa, advising them not to squander their resources on extravagant white weddings. He contends that such practices, although popular, create unnecessary financial strain, emphasizing that the funds could be better allocated towards building a future after the traditional marriage ceremony.

In a candid statement, Rex Omar implored, “My dear young people of AFRICA, after the two families have met and you’re done performing the traditional marriage ceremony with all the customs, please STOP calling it an engagement! That is the actual marriage according to our AFRICAN tradition laid down for us by our ANCESTORS. Do NOT after that put pressure on yourselves, wasting money that could have been used to start life, to go perform another white European wedding ceremony and call that the marriage. Our ANCESTORS were NOT stupid! For the lack of knowledge, my people perished.”

The musician’s sentiments echo a growing sentiment within the continent’s youth, who are increasingly reevaluating conventional wedding practices. Rex Omar’s words resonate with the idea of cherishing and preserving the cultural traditions handed down by forebears.

The call to prioritize prudent financial planning and allocate resources judiciously has struck a chord with many. This advice stands as a testament to the enduring wisdom encapsulated in the practices of our ancestors. Rex Omar’s message carries weight, urging the African youth to reflect on the essence of marriage, which, according to him, lies in the solemnity of the traditional ceremony.

As discussions surrounding wedding expenses and cultural preservation continue to gain traction, Rex Omar’s statement serves as a poignant reminder to value the legacy and customs passed down through generations. His words challenge prevailing norms, encouraging a reexamination of what truly constitutes a meaningful and impactful union.
