The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned the attack on Mr. Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations of GES, and dated December 10, 2025, the Service explained that it has received an initial report on the matter. According to the report, the incident happened on October 5, 2025. A group of past students allegedly assaulted the teacher because they were unhappy with how he supervised them during the Christian Religious Studies paper in the 2025 WASSCE.
The statement added that the matter was never reported to the school authorities or GES until the disturbing video began circulating online. Once the video surfaced, GES immediately took over the issue and began investigations, which are currently ongoing.
Management described the assault as completely unacceptable and unlawful. It stressed that attacking a teacher is not only a serious offence but also an insult to the respect and dignity that the teaching profession deserves.
GES further announced that all persons involved will face the appropriate punishment under the law and GES rules to ensure justice is served.
The Service assured teachers across the country that it fully supports them in enforcing discipline and protecting the fairness of examinations. GES also encouraged all students to behave well, respect authority, and uphold discipline at all times.
