The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set Monday, October 5, 2026, at 4 p.m. as the deadline for submitting the required documents to help resolve the ongoing payment dispute affecting teachers.
GES Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, said the Service is working closely with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to ensure affected teachers receive their outstanding payments.
He said the focus should be on resolving the issue rather than engaging in blame games, stressing that “teachers need their money.”
Mr Fenyi explained that about 59,000 to 60,000 teaching staff are affected, while the figures being processed also cover non-teaching staff.
According to him, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department has insisted on receiving the necessary input forms and documentation before processing the payments. GES is therefore working to provide the required documents within the revised deadline.
He assured teachers that officials at GES headquarters are working around the clock to meet the October 5 deadline.
Mr Fenyi also expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved without disrupting the academic calendar, saying GES remains committed to protecting teachers’ welfare and ensuring a smooth continuation of academic activities.
