The Ministry of Education as well as the Ghana Education Service (GES) have over the years struggled to get adequate teachers to fill Basic Schools, especially schools in the rural areas.
In an interview with Alfred Ocansey on the Sunrise show on 3FM Tuesday January 11, Dr. Clement Apaak (Builsa South Lawmaker) revealed a shocking statistics that over 15% of the total population of teachers in Ghana have left the fraternity of teaching in 2021.
“Government owes the Basic Schools four tranches of capitation grants. And forty four thousand have left the profession of teaching.”
This is in line with Eduwatch’s revelation that, although it is commendable that efforts are being made to recruit 16,000 teachers, over 44,000 left the basic school without replacement.
Is the teaching profession not that attractive?
Or there is a secret cause of the teachers leaving?

I think you can add to the caption that those leaving are also experienced teachers.
If NPP government do not show any respect to teachers . that's what going to happen. And a time will come no one will teach
Very bad
