The Ministry of Education has disbursed an additional GH₵25 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to support its operations and ensure the prompt release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
This funding aims to address operational challenges that have delayed the release of the examination results.
Previously, WAEC announced a delay in releasing the 2024 WASSCE results due to an outstanding debt of GH₵118 million owed by the government.
The Council cited the breakdown of scanners essential for processing objective test cards, attributing the setback to insufficient funds for equipment repairs.
With the recent financial intervention from the Ministry of Education, WAEC has assured that the 2024 WASSCE results will be released soon.
The Ministry remains committed to supporting WAEC in its mandate to conduct credible examinations and timely release of results, ensuring the integrity of Ghana’s educational assessments.
The West African Examinations Council is a regional examination body responsible for conducting standardized tests in English-speaking West African countries, including Ghana.
The timely release of examination results is crucial for students’ academic progression and access to higher education opportunities.
The Ministry’s financial support underscores its dedication to maintaining the standards and schedules of national examinations, thereby upholding the educational aspirations of Ghanaian students.
