The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School in the Ketu North Municipality to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students of the institution.
The directive, issued under the instructions of the Director-General of GES and communicated through the Regional Directorate of Education, calls for the immediate cessation of all official duties by the embattled headmaster. According to the statement, the decision was taken to protect the integrity of an impending investigation and to avoid any interference—real or perceived—that could compromise the process.
Management explained that the allegations levelled against the headmaster are serious and require urgent, impartial inquiry. As part of the administrative measures, he has been instructed to formally hand over all duties, responsibilities, school records, and any property belonging to the institution to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North.
The directive further mandates that he vacate the school premises by Monday, December 8, 2025, immediately after the handover procedure. He is, however, required to remain available to assist investigators and is prohibited from engaging in any form of contact—direct or indirect—with the affected female students or potential witnesses during the period of investigation.
GES emphasised that the order for him to step aside is not a declaration of guilt but a procedural action aimed at ensuring due process, safeguarding students’ welfare, and upholding institutional accountability.
In the interim, the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked to take over the administration and management of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School until further notice. The GES reiterated its commitment to fostering a safe learning environment and dealing decisively with any conduct that threatens the well-being of students.
