The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the opening of applications for the promotion of teaching staff to various senior ranks within the Service.

In a circular referenced No. GES/DD-G(MS)/28/25/624 and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs), Acting Deputy Director-General (MS), suitably qualified serving teachers and officers are invited to apply for promotion to the ranks of:

Qualification Requirements

According to the statement, eligibility is based on years of service and continuous duty since the last promotion:

• Deputy Director: Applicants must have been promoted to Assistant Director I in or before 2020 and remained at post (except for approved leave).

• Assistant Director I: Applicants must have attained Assistant Director II rank in or before 2020 and remained at post.

• Assistant Director II: Applicants must have been promoted to Principal Superintendent in or before 2020 and remained at post.

• Principal Superintendent: Applicants must have been promoted to Senior Superintendent I in or before 2020 and remained at post. Additionally, any applicant with an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed at this rank.

Applicants with Master’s/PhD Degrees

The GES clarified that teachers wishing to rely on higher academic qualifications for accelerated promotion must note:

• The Master’s or PhD programme should be from the approved GES course of study.

• The certificate must not have been obtained before the applicant’s last promotion.

• Candidates using these certificates for Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, or Deputy Director promotions must have obtained them in or before 2022.

Mode of Application

Applications must be submitted online via the official portal at https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or through the provided QR code.

Applicants are required to upload:

• A passport-size photograph (jpeg/jpg/png format)

• Last promotion/appointment/upgrading letter

• Highest academic certificate relevant for the application

All documents must be uploaded in PDF format (except passport pictures) and must be clear and legible.

The application window opens on Monday, 18th August, 2025, and closes on Friday, 5th September, 2025.
