The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that approval has been granted for the payment of salary arrears owed to its staff, following financial clearance issued in 2024.
This follows a directive from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), authorizing the release of funds for the settlement of outstanding payments.
According to GES management, the arrears will cover the period from August 1, 2024, to November 2025, and will be paid to all eligible staff across the country.
The payments will be made in five instalments, in line with an approved schedule, although specific dates are yet to be announced.
In a letter signed by Professor Smile Dzisi (Mrs), Acting Deputy Director-General of GES, Regional Directors have been directed to promptly inform all Heads of Schools to ensure that eligible staff are duly notified.
The development is expected to bring relief to many education workers who have been awaiting payment of their outstanding salaries.
