The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) released the provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates. The results were made public on December 30, 2024.

In a statement released on 30th January, 2025, WAEC revealed that the Ghana Examinations Committee, following its 37th meeting, had approved the withholding of subject results for some candidates due to their alleged involvement in examination malpractices.

As part of its investigation process, WAEC has completed a thorough review of the scripts of the affected candidates and has invited them, along with their parents or guardians, for a hearing. During this process, candidates will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations by writing statements in the presence of their guardians. WAEC emphasized that this is the final stage of the investigation before any final decisions on the results are made.

The Council further clarified that the candidates are neither coerced nor intimidated into writing these statements, countering claims made by some parents. WAEC has urged all affected candidates and their guardians to cooperate fully to ensure a swift resolution of the matter.

The statement was signed by John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, on behalf of the Head of the National Office.
