The Eastern Region branch of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is urging authorities to quickly investigate and punish students of Kade Senior High School who beat up a teacher outside the school.
A video circulating online shows about six students attacking the teacher. Reports say the attack was in revenge for punishment the teacher gave them in October 2025.
Although the Ghana Police Service started investigations when the issue happened, nothing serious has been done so far.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of NAGRAT, Awoonor-Yevu Godwin, says the students must face the law so that others will learn from it. He explained that attacking teachers destroys discipline and puts everyone in danger.
The Centre for Research on Education Policy (CREP) has also condemned the attack. According to the group, the behaviour is unacceptable and disrespects the teaching profession.
In a statement, CREP said: “Violence against teachers is wrong, illegal, and a serious threat to the peace and quality of education in Ghana. Teachers should never be attacked or intimidated for doing their work.”
