The Oldest Senior High School in Ashanti Region, OKESS , sworn in its new prefects on Wednesday 18th October 2023 at the Ahenema Hall (OKESS ASSEMBLY HALL)

In attendance were the School’s Management, Staff Members, Old students, Parents and the continuing students.

The colourful event showed royalty as the school was named after Nana Agyemang Prempeh(Asantehene). The Boys and Girls Prefects together with their assistance dressed in royalty to symbolize the Asante culture.

The Boys and Girls prefects sworn with a royal sword, the sword symbolize the authority of the people that has been entrusted in their hands to rule. The headmaster touched the buttocks of the boys and girls prefects on a stool(Asesedwa) thrice to symbolize the Asante tradition.

Delivering his speech, Master Osei Tutu , The Boys Prefects thanked his colleagues for electing them to lead the school and pleaded with them to help make their tenure a success.

“OKESS should set the pace for others to follow in all areas, ie academics, sports, discipline” he said, and asked the students to collaborate with them to make their work easier and targets achievable.

He promised the house his team will work diligently to uphold the standards of the school.

The Headmaster, Mr Michael Mensah asked the new leaders not to set their own rules but rather work with the school rules and regulations. Again, he said” Spritually we are behind you and physically the cadet is with you, work with fear or favor “
