Students of Our Lady of Grace Senior High School (OLAG SHS), through their Student Representative Council (SRC), have extended a helping hand to the Abrade D/A Primary School in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region by renovating their school building.
The renovation which cost over GH¢34,000, was done with the help of OLAG SHS management, Parents and kind supporters also contributed money to supporting the work.
The project included interior and exterior painting of a five-classroom building, fixing old furniture, and provision of 15 new desks.
The Head Prefect of OLAG SHS, Mr. Francis-Pio Sapaat, said the aim was to make learning easier and better for the children at Abrade D/A Primary School. He explained that the OLAG team was touched by the poor state of the classrooms when they visited to celebrate Mass with the pupils.
“We wanted to help our younger brothers and sisters, so we spoke to our school authorities and shared the idea. They approved it, and we began the project,” he said.
Mr. Sapaat thanked everyone who helped make the project successful, especially the OLAG community, parents, and supporters. He also asked the primary school authorities to take good care of the renovated building and furniture.
Mr. Richard Nkrumah, Head Teacher of Abrade D/A Primary School, showed appreciation to the OLAG students, their school, and all who supported the project. He promised to teach the pupils the value of giving back to their communities, just like the OLAG students have shown.
