A female candidate sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has delivered a baby boy while writing her exams.
The incident occurred at the Asenua Presbyterian Junior High School Examination Centre located at Mamponteng in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, the candidate went into labour shortly after beginning one of the exam papers. She was immediately assisted and transported to a nearby health facility, where she safely delivered.
Both mother and baby are reported to be in stable condition.
People in the area have commended the candidate for her determination to pursue her education despite the challenges. Arrangements are being made to allow her to continue the remaining papers under special supervision, depending on medical advice.
