Prosper Tachie has been elected as the new President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), succeeding Rev. Isaac Owusu. His election marks a new chapter in the leadership of the association.
Mr. Tachie, who previously served as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of GNAT, won the national elections with 61 percent of the valid votes cast. The strong margin reflects the confidence delegates have in his leadership and vision for the association.
The GNAT National Elections brought together representatives from across the country to choose leaders who will steer the affairs of the association in the coming years. Mr. Tachie’s victory followed a keenly contested process.
As President, Mr. Tachie is expected to focus on improving the welfare of teachers, strengthening union advocacy, and promoting professionalism within the teaching profession.
He takes over from Rev. Isaac Owusu, whose tenure was marked by efforts to protect teachers’ rights and enhance dialogue with education stakeholders.
