Ghana Black Stars’ Osman Bukari copied Cristiano Ronaldo’s SIUUUU celebration despite his team losing to Portugal by 3:2. Bukari, who was on for his country on the 77th minute scored a header on the 89th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo had earlier scored a goal from a spot kick and had executed his usual jump and hiss celebrations, setting a record of having scored a goal at five consecutive World Cups (2006,2010,2014,2018,2022).
Ronaldo was not happy after Bukari scored against his country. Many fans associated Cristiano’s displeasure to the fact that the African side were trying to grab a point from the match while others were of the view that, he saw Bukari’s celebration as disrespectful mimicry.
Osman Bukari has cleared the air in relation to his celebration. “I have noticed my celebration today has generated comments claiming I was disrespectful towards Ronaldo This is incorrect. I was overcome by the emotion of the moment of scoring for my country on my World Cup debut leading to my celebration.”
“My upbringing doesn’t permit me to be disrespectful to elders let alone one of my idols. Thanks for your support and we focus on our next game!” — Osman Bukari
Meanwhile, Ghanaians have expressed gross displeasure to the substitutes of Otto Addo, believing that the timing was not right. Watch video below:
