Sarkodie replies Kwame Sefa-Kayi; I had a diss track on the way but i’ll not release it anymore
Rapper Sarkodie has responded to eminent Ghanaian media figure Kwame Sefa-Kayi’s birthday message and pledged to stop working on any additional diss tracks in his discography.
In a tweet on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Sarkodie stated that he had originally planned to release another diss tune with the name of the Peace FM presenter but has since changed his mind.
“The only Chairman General when you speak it’s final! I had one track that had your name in there but if you’ve asked me to cease fire then so be it lol. Bless you, my boss, I appreciate you,” the tweet read.
Sefa-Kayi showed his real love for Sarkodie on Monday, July 10, 2023, on his morning radio show on Peace FM. He also asked him to be a good guy and stop from making diss recordings.
“So King Sark, wherever you are, Happy birthday to you, and be a good boy,” Kwame Sefa Kai.
Sefa-Kayi also used the occasion to praise Sarkodie for his musical abilities before cautioning the rapper that he would be held accountable if his name was ever mentioned in a song without Sefa-Kayi’s permission.
“One love. Happy birthday to you, Sarkodie and as I said, stop everything. If you don’t know, and you make a song and mention my name, you will see what I will do to you,” the ace presenter said in both a friendly tone and a strong stance.
His remarks were in reaction to Sarkodie’s most recent song, “Try Me,” which speaks to the debate surrounding Yvonne Nelson’s memoir and her allegations that he disregarded his obligations as the father of her unborn child.
Sarkodie shared his perspective on the incident and expressed amazement at the circumstances in the song.
“I never thought I was going on this wave, cause I was ready to take a couple of things to my grave. First of all, let me clap for you baby you are brave but you can’t pick and choose what to say pls behave, nobody sent you so Ohemaa if you want to talk, you have to tell the world every n*gga that you f*cked” Sarkodie said in the first lines of his song.
He admitted their prior relationship and recalled how when Yvonne Nelson told him she was pregnant, he advised keeping the child. Nelson clarified that she intended to finish her degree as a top priority.
”I am not going to sit here and lie we had a thing, first I thought we were cool till I had a thing … You told me you were pregnant and I was the one to be blamed … yes I wasn’t ready but I told you to keep it and you explained that you have to complete your school,” he added.
Before concluding the birthday message, Sefa-Kayi made a lighthearted reference to his distinctive beard in the message.
“Your beard is like something I don’t know,” he added.
Sarkodie, who celebrated his 38th birthday on Monday, is now on a North American and European tour and is in New York City. However, after his name appeared in Yvonne Nelson’s autobiography, I AM NOT YVONNE NELSON, he has taken center stage in the news cycle.
Sarkodie received a message from Sefa Kayi as a polite reminder to uphold his sterling reputation and refrain from getting into pointless disputes through diss tracks.
