Ghanaian rap sensation Eno Barony is championing the introduction of a ‘Female Artiste of the Year’ category at the Ghana Music Awards. The award-winning rapper argues that this addition would be a major advancement for women in the music industry.
In a recent interview on Property FM, the ‘Heavy Load’ rapper stressed the need to acknowledge female talent in a male-dominated industry. She believes that recognizing female artists’ potential will not only offer a significant boost but also foster a more inclusive and equitable environment within the music scene.
Eno Barony appealed to the award organizers to seriously consider her proposal, highlighting how it could elevate the profile of female musicians and enrich Ghana’s music landscape. “This will enhance our work, and the craft of female artists will feel appreciated. I’m confident it will happen. As more females enter the music scene, the creation of this category is inevitable, provided there is strong media support. Especially for women in rap, their growing presence demands such recognition,” she stated.
