Ghana and Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey, has returned to England after missing Friday night’s friendly against Brazil. The Vice-captain of the Senior National Soccer Team of Ghana, The Black Stars, suffered knee injury few minutes to the match against Brazil.
After failing to feature against Brazil, Partey, 29, will also miss Ghana’s friendly against Nicaragua in Spain the following weekend.
The box-to-box midfielder who can also attack from the middle of the football field is expected to be in London for critical examinations and scans on his knee which was a problem up before the Ghana- Brazil friendly on September 23, 2022.
Partey was replaced by Baba Iddrisu prior to the start of the match between Ghana and Brazil at the Stade Oceane in Le Havre despite coach Otto Addo selecting him among the starters. He had felt uneasy around his knee area during the warm-up and was advised to drop.
However, the Black Stars medical team confirmed his withdrawal was only precautionary and that the player should be fine for the match against Nicaragua, but, that is not the case as it stands.
The season has not begun well with the Ghanaian as he has suffered couple of injuries. After returning from injury at the club level, Partey was subbed in the 78th minutes in a premier league match between his team Arsenal and Brentford. He was then invited for the Ghana Black Stars games against Brazil and Nicaragua but his flared knee has rendered his invitation a disappointing one.
