Toilet-Cubicles-Turned-Dormitories For Students False – GHANASCO Authorities [Details]
Some authority members of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale have said it is false that cubicles of places of convenience in the school have been used as dormitories for students.
According to these authority members who failed to disclose their identities during an interview with representatives of Ghana News Agency, GHANASCO has extra sleeping places for borders. They further made clarifications that viral video showing toilet spaces being converted to rooms for students were rather storerooms for ‘chopboxes’ and mattresses of some of the students during vacation.
In a letter released by the Ghana Education Service, dated April 16, 2023, the headmaster and the Senior housemaster of Ghana Senior High School, Tamale were asked to put down their work for further investigations for using toilet cubicles as dormitories for students.
This decision was made following the viral video that circulated online. According to the letter released by GES, investigations will be done by the Regional Director of Education and decision will be taken after two weeks.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Saibu, Northern Regional Minister, on Monday visited GHANASCO seeking to know the truth behind the incident. The minister debunked the news and labeled it as misinformation. He added that there were new accommodation facilities for GHANASCO, which could have been focused on if the one, who took the videos, wanted to do so.
