Mohammed Kudus joyfully poured accolades on one of the two local players who made the final 26-man squad cut to represent Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Ajax player praised Barnieh after Ghana’s friendly against Switzerland. Despite Kudus warming the bench for the entire duration of the game, he felt the matche’s euphoria from the top notch performance of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
In a video interview with a representative of Joy Sports, Kudus interrupted the conversation between the journalist and Barnieh to praise the Accra Hearts of Oak player. “Charlie 3n3 de3 wosei h) o, me feelie y3 rough” — Kudus said in local dialect, Twi, to mean, “you performed marvelously well today, I felt the whole vibe”. All present laughed to the comment and the interview continued.
Barnieh, 21, told the interviewer the secret behind his marvelous display in the Ghana Switzerland friendly. To him, he did nothing but followed the pre match instructions of the coaches. “I stick to what the coaches said and everything went well for me” — he said.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians have praise the zeal and charisma of Barnieh and insist he starts in all the matches against opponents in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
