As part of the circular he said that, ‘I was out of line and I was wrong’. Will Smith has publicly apologised to Chris Rock after he, out of emotions, slapped comedian at the Oscars.
Mr. Smith described his act as ‘ violent’ and that such act is ‘very poisonous and destructive’ to society.
He further said as part of the amende honorable that,
‘My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally’.
The star slapped Rock in the face on stage after the comedian made a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The apology comes after Mr. Smith was condemned by Oscars film Academy.
Will Smith throughout his life, has thrived to be better than what he portrayed during the Oscars. He describes himself as ‘a work in progress’.
He also apologised to the academy and producers as in,
‘I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us’.
Moments after, Mr. Smith picked up the first Oscar of his career for playing the father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard.
