Although the final list of 26-man squad to represent Ghana Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup Qatar is not out, individual players have been informed via phone calls that they will not make the cut. Among the left out players are the in fine form Joseph Paintsil, versatile Jeffery Schlupp and Felix Afena-Gyan.
According to Owuraku Ampofo, a renowned journalist at TV3 sports, the representatives of Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp have the feeling they have not been treated right. He said this following an Instagram story post by Calvin, a member of Schlupp’s management team, Unique Sports Management (USM). Calvin labeled the Ghana Football Association as corrupt. According to them, Jeffery was dropped because Otto Addo “hasn’t seen him play.”
Joseph Paintsil of Genk, in the Belgian Pro League has scored six league goals and provided five assists in 13 games as a winger. According to reports, his neglect was not on personal levels but a decision by the entire technical team.
Cremonese attacker Felix Aden’s-Gyan has struggled to find his feet since joining his current club. He has played six matches of 158 minutes in all but has found no goal or assist upfront.
Coach Otto Addo and the technical team of the Black Stars are yet to release the official list of players to represent Ghana at Qatar.
